Our move to consolidate our Sterling and Leesburg locations is going full steam ahead!
Today, our amazing volunteers packed for the first time in our new Eastern Loudoun Center in Ashburn – getting food ready for local families in Sterling and living up to our promise that this move would not interrupt our services to those in need the Eastern part of the county.
Thanks to the work of so many volunteers, all food, fridges, equipment, and more were moved completely out of our Sterling location – ahead of schedule!
We are now focusing on the move from Leesburg to Ashburn, which will begin next week. Make sure to check out the links above and get involved!

We would like to share some big news with you about our operations in eastern Loudoun County. We are consolidating our Sterling and Leesburg locations into one larger location in Ashburn! This change is designed to prepare us to grow and serve more people in our community now and into the future.
The new center will be located near the George Washington University campus which is just off of route 7 near 28. The address is 45189 Research Place, Ashburn, Virginia, 20147
How will consolidating these two locations help Tree of Life?
Here are some of the reasons this will help Tree of Life:
• The new space is significantly larger than the Sterling and Leesburg locations combined. We have room to grow!
• The monthly lease cost is significantly less than both locations combined.
• Our eastern region staff will all be under one roof which will allow us to work better together.
• We will have the means to expand food delivery to areas that are hard for us to serve now like Chantilly and South Riding.
How will food deliveries work?
Delivery of food is an important part of our food model. One of our values is “Relationship is for All” which means we want to be intentional about connecting to people relationally and pointing them to Jesus. This new location is still a great spot for the partners we serve in the Sterling and Ashburn areas. The Sterling area deliveries will continue in the same way but from the new location.
But what about Leesburg? Will Leesburg delivery teams have to come to the new location?
No! We are planning to continue to deliver out of Leesburg but instead of volunteers coming to the center to get the grocery delivery bags, they’ll meet the Tree of Life truck in Leesburg. In other words, bags will be prepped at the center and then loaded onto the truck and then driven to Leesburg to meet our faithful volunteers. We’ll likely have that rendezvous at one of our church sponsor parking lots. The goal is for there to be zero impact on partners or our delivery volunteers.
The other great thing about this model is that it gives us a way to expand into new areas and work with new churches. We have a number of churches that want to be involved from the southeast region of Loudoun and we are excited about the possibilities the new approach allows in helping those churches and volunteers serve in their local community. This plan is also significantly less costly than a new center in southeast Loudoun and it keeps the ministry centered around local churches.
How does Tree of Life need help?
Moving two pantry operations is going to take a lot of work and we’ll need volunteers. We have a number of volunteer opportunities for helping us pack and move. Click here for the opportunities and please forward that link on to anyone you know that might be able to help!
Please pray for us through these changes. We will need wisdom to navigate the changes, stamina to do the work, and lots of volunteers to step up! Our plan is to get Sterling moved and going and then to move Leesburg. We’ll keep you informed!
When is this all going to happen?
We are already starting the work of moving. Our hope is to have Sterling moved and operating at the new location by the end of February.
Thank you to everyone that makes Tree of Life operate and be successful. This is the staff and volunteers who so faithfully serve, as well as the donors and churches that provide the prayer and financial support. Thank you for working together with us to reach out to the poor and needy in our community with the love of Jesus.
